Frequently Asked Questions

What is Webform?

Webform is free, open-source software for making forms and surveys through a web browser. These forms can then be filled out by other users, and their responses can be collected for analysis and exporting. Webform is built on top of the Drupal platform (which is also free and open-source). This website (webform.com) provides a hosted platform for using the Webform software as a service, without the need to download or install Webform yourself. For more information, see our About page.

Is Webform Free?

The software that powers Webform.com is available for download on drupal.org. Webform.com is also entirely free to use, though some limitations exist on the number of submissions that can be handled. We're working on payment plans to allow for higher limits of submissions, but the base plan will never be reduced in functionality. If you hit the usage-ceiling, contact us and we'll upgrade your account limit. If you decide you'd like to export your site to your own servers (including all the forms and submissions you've made), we can set you up with an export of your site.

Who can use Webform.com?

Webform.com can be used by anyone who’s interested in creating a survey and collecting data (see our Privacy Policy for complete details). Simply create an account and you’ll be able to start creating your form or survey in minutes. The forms you create and data you collect are yours.

What sort of limitations exist on forms I create on Webform.com?

All accounts on webform.com are currently limited to the following:

  • 1000 submissions per form
  • 100 forms per account
  • 100 fields per form

Every individual account is allowed to start up to 10 different sites and collaborate with any number of other users.

Each account can be upgraded on an as-needed basis. If you hit the usage-ceiling, contact us and we'll upgrade your account limit.

Can I customize the look/design of my form or survey in Webform??

Not yet, but that will be an option in the future.

How secure is Webform?

The software used in Webform is subject to regular security review. The open-source nature of Webform means that hundreds of developers have inspected its code on a regular basis. Hundreds of thousands of sites depend on Webform for managing their data. In addition to the strong security of the server-side software, all submissions transmitted to Webform.com are done via secure 256-bit encryption over HTTPS. This means that your user's data is secure from the instant it leaves their computer until it reaches our servers; the same level of security used to process credit card or online banking transactions.

How long is information stored on Webform.com?

Information is kept on Webform.com servers until you delete the individual submission, forms, or the entire account. You may delete any information (including your own profile) at any time. Any content you have created will also be deleted. We store backups of all information in the event of a catastrophic failure. These backups are not publicly accessible and are deleted after 90 days.

How do I cancel my Webform.com account?

Any user who creates an account may also delete their account, deleting with it all surveys created by that user and any submissions made to those surveys. Accounts may be deleted by logging into your account, clicking the My Account link in the site header, then clicking “Cancel account” at the bottom of the form. Account cancellations must be confirmed by e-mail. Cancelled accounts immediately become inaccessible from the public internet. Webform will store information related to the cancelled account for a period of 90 days; after that, all information will be permanently deleted.

How do I get help with Webform?

If you have questions about the site, or are having technical troubles, please email support@webform.com, and we’ll do our best to help you. We unfortunately cannot provide assistance with formulating questions or designing forms.
